A newly launched Thai airline has hired six transsexuals to their flight attendant crew in what boss Peter Chan states is an effort to promote an equal opportunity agenda for the “third sexâ€. “Our society has changed,” said Chan. “It’s evolution. I’m a pioneer and I’m sure there will be other organizations following my idea.”
Thanyarat Jiraphatpakorn, left, winner of the 2007 Miss Tiffany transsexual beauty pageant, was among the successful candidates to land a job at fledgling PC Air.
According to Thailand’s Nation newspaper, the new flight attendants will be given a ‘third sex’ name tag while on duty to avoid immigration issues.
Thailand has one of the largest transsexual populations in the world.
